·        Objectives

The objective of this workshop is to prepare participants for a real world situation such as client meetings, conference calls, and negotiations. It will enable them to write clearly and accurate.

·        About the Instructor

The instructor is Daniel J. Nickel, Esquire of Chicago, Illinois, USA. Prior to law school, he taught English and developed English curriculum for professionals for the AEON corporation in Tokyo, Japan (1996 – 1997). In 2002 he was a cum laude graduate of Chicago Kent College of Law in Chicago. While in law school, he received several academic awards, belonged to Moot Court Honor Society and was an extern for a federal judge in the Northern District of Illinois.

Daniel J. Nickel opened the firm of Daniel J. Nickel, P.C. in 2007. The firm is results-oriented and represents individuals and business clients in the areas of commercial disputes and litigation, business counseling, employment law and advises clients on other legal matters. His firm has represented Merpati Airlines, an Indonesian airline, in a fraud claim case in the United State Bankruptcy Court in Chicago in 2009.

·        Target Audiences

This three days Legal English Writing Workshop is targeting to law student, law lecturer, legal professionals from law firms, business firms, government legal officer, in house legal counsel, and other professionals that interested in legal field.

·        Workshop Program

The workshop will start from 9:00am to 4:00pm, with breaks in the morning and for lunch. Participants are expected to be active, take part in class exercise, and complete homework assignments. Small class size participant-instructor meetings ensure individual attention. Workshop is only filled by 15 to 25 participants.

ü  Design to Improve Accuracy and Legal Vocabulary

In very short time participants will understand the commercial and technical vocabulary, accurate and natural sentence structure in English, the correct register of the English language in a contract, to use preposition and collocation accurately in English.

ü  Legal Writing Skills

Deal with problematic words found in contract, awareness of which nouns are countable and which are uncountable. This workshop is designed to improve the skills in Legal writing. The participants will learn how to write short Legal summaries, business letters, and draft contract provisions.

ü  Reading, Listening, and Speaking Skills

This workshop incorporates exercises that focus in reading, listening, and speaking skills.

RUU Kesehatan Jiwa cegah koruptor pura-pura gila

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Rancangan Undang-Undang (RUU) Kesehata Jiwa akan mempersulit koruptor yang berpura-pura mengalami gangguan jiwa saat menjadi tersangka atau terdakwa kasus korupsi.

"Koruptor yang berpura-pura mengalami gangguan jiwa tak bisa lagi berpura-pura karena RUU Kesehatan Jiwa akan dipakai untuk menentukan apakah seorang itu memang mengalami gangguan jiwa atau tidak. Ada bab dan pasal yang mengatur," kata Wakil Ketua Komisi IX DPR Nova Riyanti Yusuf di Jakarta, Selasa.

RUU ini akan membuat seorang koruptor yang disebut mengalami gangguan jiwa untuk diuji apakah benar ato tidak gila.

"Nanti akan diberikan sekitar 500 pertanyaan kepada orang yang berpura-pura mengalami gangguan jiwa. Dari situ akan diketahui apakah benar mengalami gangguan jiwa atau tidak. Proses ini tak bisa dimanipulasi bila ada tersangka korupsi yang berpura-pura gila," ujarnya.
